Chrome Addon – TabsLock

Chrome Addon - TabsLock

TabsLock lets you use your Caps Lock key to launch and focus a new Google Chrome tab from anywhere, even if Chrome isn’t running. This allows low-thought, global keyboard access to web search and navigation.

Stuff

  • Holding the Shift key while you press CapsLock will allow you to engage or disengage CapsLock normally.
  • CapsLock lovers, this is not for you.
  • TabsLock runs in the System Tray in the bottom-right of your screen – right clicking on the icon will allow you to control it.
  • If you wish to launch Chrome with a custom command line, create a desktop shortcut named ‘chromespace’ with the properties you want. If this file does not exist, TabsLock will then use the ‘Google Chrome’ desktop shortcut, and failing that, the installed exe.
  • Apple builds a 250ms CapsLock delay into the hardware of its newer keyboards, ensure you keep CapsLock down for at least that long.

this is great! now i can launch my browser so easily from anywhere, and it gives new life to this unused key.

Unreliable. Will keep working even after uninstalling.

    I do not recommend it.

You can assign keys to programs anyway so this is useless, right click google chrome icon, go to short cut click on assign key, press ctrl+alt+g and that will be your shortcut, saves using the capslock key

    Nice !!!!!!!!!!

Great idea, especially considering how quickly Chrome loads with such a low resource need.

However, would it not be more practical that the hotkey be Shift + CapsLock?

That would ward against errant pinky gestures while typing, as well as appease those who love their CapsLock-ishness.

At the very least, having this switch as an option would be nice.

Tabslock only opens new window with the newest stable Chrome build.
Any chance of an update for this add-on?

Great addon, but with XP It’s got to be installed every time I turn on my computer, is there anyway to fix this?

I DON’T KNOW WHY, BUT CHROME HAS STARTED TO GO CRAZY AFTER I INSTALLED THIS PLUG-IN. IT IS CONSTANTLY OPENING NEW TABS AND I CAN’T STOP IT. I THINK IT IS BROKEN.
